Seinäjoki

Seinäjoki is the regional centre of South Ostrobothnia and lies on both sides of the river of the same name. The city has about 64 850 inhabitants. On the southern edge of Seinäjoki's city centre, an ensemble of buildings designed by Alvar Aalto dominates the cityscape, the Aaltokeskus, consisting of the Lake Cross Church, the City Hall, the two–part Main Library and the City Theatre. Seinäjoki is described as a spiritual hub where evangelism, heranism and free churches meet. The Lapua Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland has its headquarters in Seinäjoki. The events, activities and services of the local congregation are open to all. The German Congregation here regularly organises church services and other events in German language.
