Kotka is a city in the southern part of Kymenlaakso Province, on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. Kotka is a major port and industrial city, as well as a diverse educational and cultural city. The city has 50 891 inhabitants, of whom about 95.5 % are Finnish speakers, about 1.1 % are Swedish speakers and 3.5 % speak other languages.
