Our meeting places in Finland

Church life—our meeting places in groups and circles in Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, and many other places in Finland: diversity in the area.

The German Congregation in Finland is also active outside the capital region — there are community groups all over the country: From Salo to Rovaniemi, Pori to Joensuu, Oulu to Lappeenranta. In Turku and Tampere, groups meet monthly, in Kouvola and Kuhmo two to three times a year. Whether they are attended more by families, as in Jyväskylä, or by older members of the congregation, as in Riihimäki, whether the focus is more on themes, as in Savonlinna, or on worship fellowship, as in Mikkeli — the congregational groups offer a multi–faceted picture. Some groups are more likely to bring together Finns who are interested in the German language, as in Kokkola, while others are more likely to be Germans who cultivate their mother tongue, as in Vaasa.

The group in Lahti has been around for many years — the group in Seinäjoki only a few months ago, and a new group is just forming in Jakobstad. There is a lot of contact with Kotka and unfortunately none with Kuopio. But that can change… if you want to know where a community group is meeting near you, or would like to have a group in your town, please contact us.
