Jyväskylä

The city of Jyväskylä is the regional centre of Central Finland and is located on the northern shore of Lake Päijänne. Jyväskylä is an old city, founded in 1837. Jyväskylä has about 144 300 inhabitants, is the seventh largest city and the fifth largest urban area in Finland. And an important centre of growth. The Jyväskylä congregation is the largest congregation within the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, with almost 100 000 members, and is led by Pastor Arto Viitala. The events and services offered by the local congregations are open to all. The German Congregation here regularly organises services and events in German language.
