Pori • Björneborg

Pori is a town and the regional centre of Satakunta. It is located at the mouth of the Kokemäenjoki River on the coast of the Bothnian Sea in the province of Satakunta. The Finnish name Pori is derived from the Swedish name Björneborg, which ends in –borg (kaupunki, linna). The city has a population of around 83 300 and is the tenth largest city and eighth largest urban area in Finland. The municipality of Pori consists of six regional parishes. All events, activities and services offered by the local parishes are open to everyone. The German Congregation here regularly organises church services and other events in German language.
